Meditation
Meditation is a powerful tool that helps one to heal the mind, and therefore can be a gateway to healing the body. There are many different ways to meditate, but all types call for a point of focus. This could be on a sound, the breath, a word or phrase repeated silently or aloud, visualization, the internal occurrences of the body, a higher power, etc...
When one begins to truly align their breath with each action, yoga (asana) practice acts as a moving meditation. While holding the gaze (drishti) steady at one point in each pose, we aim to steady and align the body through the breath. From the innermost part of us outward.. holding energy, circulating energy, being the medium through which it flows. This is Yoga, the greater meaning, a unification of all these elements. So then the larger meaning of "Yoga" is actually a practice of meditation.
